Course recommendations
I took 4 courses: Marketing Internacional, Tecnicas Modernas de Ventas, Sociologia de la Comunicacion y Grupos a la Empresa and Teoria de la comunicacion Comercial. Marketing Internacional: a mess - there were 2 ways to be evaluated, one in which you had to complete many assessments throughout the course and a final term exam, and other which was just the exam. I wanted to choose the former, but i couldnt access the Course internet files for about 2 weeks so i failed to handle 4 assessments and couldnt choose the on going system anymore. So, as i was forced to choose the simple final exam option, i didnt feel estimulated to go to classes anymore, as presence is not required. Also, gotta say that the classes were pretty much of a mess, the teacher couldnt control the students and would be only speaking about cases, without explaining the fundamentals of international marketing. Deception much. Tecnicas Modernas de Ventas - good class, the teacher was very helpful and nice. The project we had to develop could have been a bit more oriented. Sociologia de la Com... - Awesome class, but u gotta speak a very good spanish to understand it. the teacher is so funny and smart and thinks completely out of the box. There arent many exchange students here, so u will probably be alone cause local students dont interact much. Teoria de la Comunicacion - good basic class of advertising. dont expect to learn on a deeper level though.

I dont like the system of exams worthing 100% of the mark - would have prefered to be evaluated throughout the semester, as happens at my home uni.

It wasnt hard at all for me as im a native portuguese speaker. also, i took an advanced level course of spanish in order to improve it even more - which was more worthy than uni itself.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I think sharing an apt with other exchange students is the best option overall, because you can interact with people your age and have some kind of privacy (especially if you have a room for yourself, as i did).

They didn't help at all - had to arrange all by myself, searching for rooms to rent through loquo.com. It was a hard process visiting so many places: i visited some 15 different apartments. Some were so crappy and at bad areas of barcelona - it was my first time in the city and i didn't know where were the good and the bad neighbourhoods. I think the uni could have been more helpful, maybe putting the upcoming exchange students in contact.

i could go thru this for hours! The social life was the best thing the city had to offer for sure. Places not to be missed: - Clubs: Sutton (on thursdays), shoko, razzmatazz are the best! - Bars: la champañería (actually can paixano), barceloneta station, amazing and cheapest place ever! Cava glasses for less than 1 euro each and delicious bocadillos (my favourite was smoked salmon with brie), cheap as well. Closes at 22h30 and is crowded as, so u better arrive there early. Other good spots are oveja negra, bosque de las hadas, ciutat comtal... also, a good place to eat is Mercat de Santa Caterina, a food market turned restaurant where they serve many kinds of food... and of course La Boqueria. But the list is truly endless Arts - bcn is filled with this artsy atmosphere, so for the ones who like it there is a lot going on. Museum Picasso, Miro, Macba and CCCB were my favourites.
