Why? Because you can choose the people you want to live with. Living with Spaniards was a very wise choice.

Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Personal comments:
As soon as we (International Erasmus students) agreed to speek Spanish as first language, we managed to control the language pritty fast. Living with a Spaniard was a very good choice.

Because you want to different things when being abroad. Prices when going out where higher and I travelled more.
