Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
This campus has 4 different buildings very big, so in total can live around 600 people. That's the best, because all the parties, friends and cultures are there. The distance from the center is only 5 minutes by bike. To the University as well, or 20 minutes walking. From the Medicine faculty is farer (15 or 20 minutes by bike), but the Guesthouse in Majella is too small, and the others too, so go to the Main Guest House in Brouwersweg 100. The best international home in my life!!!

The Main Guest House is ok, there are place to play tennis and basketball, but you have to pay for the raquets and balls, so carry yours. Every working day the cleaning ladies go and they clean the communal kitchens and bathrooms together with the showers, pretty good. By the way, about your lease, you cannot take it off days, for example, if you think to leave in the middle of June, do it until the beginner of June, later you can add days for sure, and it's better than to loose the money, because you pay for sure every day that your lease says.

The best of the Residence (Gest House) was the social life there. Almost all the residents were exchange students, so living there permitted to get to know easily a lot of people from other coutries. I made a lot of friends there. The bad point was the price; excessive for the services offered (shared bathrooms and kitchens, no restaurant or cafeteria, no free access to the sport faccilities...).

Housing
Type of housing: Guesthouse of the Universiteit Maastricht
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Guesthouse of the Universiteit Maastricht
Why?
Because even though the prices for the rooms are quite high the social aspect of living close to a lot of other exchange students is only given when living in the guesthouse. Otherwise it is far more difficult to get to know other people.

Great atmosphere among exchange students, good leisure time facilities (Tennis courts, ...) but housing prices in the Netherlands are generally higher compared to Austria and the management of the guesthouse knows that exchange students are dependent on their services.

Everything was arrangged before my arrival and this was a great advantage as I know that in some other cities you have to find housing by yourself. The facilities were also satisfactory and the reception was very welcoming and helpful to settle in the city.

The facilities have been improved now, but when I was there were really not wonderful, so if I had to go back now I would definitely stay at the campus.

It was really nice to live with so many people of different nationalities. I shared the room with an Italian girl, and the experience was great. The location is just perfect, in a quiet area and not far from the faculty.

Dutch are serious and reliable. Everything has a cost, so if you decide to live there alone, becauseyou need your space or simply because you don't want to share your privacy with someone else, then it becomes expensive.
