The most interesting lectures are in Norwegian and even though the University offers a program in English I would say that knowing the local is a plus on a academical point of view.

I voluntereed in a student associativ cafe which was a really good place to go out: Det akademiske Kvarteret. Most of the time, social events took place at students' places.
