Why? because it is cheaper than on campus housing and has more facilities and space.
Personal comments:
I did not experince housing in tahat university. but in most of the dorms have sahred bathrooms and shared rooms. and it costs more than most of the off campus opportunutioes.

Great cafe shops, such as Coffee "X-Change". Also, great international cuisine, such as "Athens" restaurant, on 4th Avenue.

university atmosphere is really good but Tucson is not a very big city. Campus is very big and beautiful. Professors were good and exchange coordinators were friendly.
