HOUSING
by suarezvel, Universidad Externado de Colombia, Bogotá, D.C., Colombia
Political Science, University Agreement
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? I'd like to have a different experience, the other side of the coin. Since I've already known Canadian culture within a family, I'd like to see how is living on campus.
Personal comments:
I stayed at a friend's parents', which was great, they really opened their family to me and made me feel like another member.

KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Activities, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
There was this great bar-cafe called "vicios circle", that was my favorite. Good food, and music.

ACADEMIC
by Karin, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna, Austria
Business Studies, University Agreement
My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
There is lots to do during the term - many assignments, presentations, etc - has the advantage that the finals are not too hard.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
Some classes stay at a pretty basic level although they are already on a high level - for students which graduate within one year. Going a little bit into more detail wouldn't be bad sometimes.

Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.

Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
Difference between American and British english shouldn't be underestimated, especially if you spend a lot of time with locals who use a lot of slang and informal language.

There's no need to worry so much - everyting that happens is gonna contribute to your experience, and you are going to learn from every mistake you make.
In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.

Personal recommendation:
I definitely recommend this university, I had an awesome time at UofC! Everyone was friendly and helpful, the Centre for International Students and Study Abroad (CISSA) does a great job in organising events and trips and helping students whenever there is a problem.
