Description:
The University of Helsinki (Helsingin yliopisto) is the oldest and largest university in Finland. It was founded in 1640 as the "Academy of Turku"; Turku being the former capital of Finland, which was then part of the Swedish realm. After Finland was annexed to the Russian Empire in 1809, the capital was moved to Helsinki. In 1827 the University was transferred to Helsinki, where it opened the following year under the name of the Imperial Alexander University, after the Russian Czar Alexander the Second. It was the only university in Finland until 1919.

HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because I really think that it is the best way to do an international experience. You may meet people and it is not expensive since you can devide the rent with the other flatmates.
Personal comments:
It was a great experience, because I lived for seven months in a flat with other five guys from Czech Republic, France, England, Greece and Esthonia. Living in a multiciltural flat I enlarged my mind and, first of all, I improved a lot my english language. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
The best pub was Barikarpanen, that in english language means Bar Fly. But first of all, if you go in Finland, you can not miss the Sauna after every activity. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal recommendation:
In Finland, it is very hard to accede to the university, therefore all the students do not want to play. You have to do the same. FINAL COMMENTS
