Description:
The University of Helsinki (Helsingin yliopisto) is the oldest and largest university in Finland. It was founded in 1640 as the "Academy of Turku"; Turku being the former capital of Finland, which was then part of the Swedish realm. After Finland was annexed to the Russian Empire in 1809, the capital was moved to Helsinki. In 1827 the University was transferred to Helsinki, where it opened the following year under the name of the Imperial Alexander University, after the Russian Czar Alexander the Second. It was the only university in Finland until 1919.

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? I prefer, the easy accessibilty to the department or the work place and the working environment.
Personal comments:
The housing is good and the accomodation is near to the department. Being the student apartment, it gives a sort of satisfaction. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Much attention in the language of instruction, mainly English, would help improve the academic life to a greater extent. All the courses, if offered in English, would add to the strength of academic life. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal recommendation:
As said before, all the courses better be available in English. FINAL COMMENTS
Its better to take monthly student bus pass for travel. Good to mix with the local people. Self-cooking is advisable for students with regard to expenses. A prior knowledge of the local language would help student mix with local community and win the friendship of the same. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
