Type of housing: Student Flats
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I would prefer to rent a student house on the private rental market if I was to go back to Leeds because it might be a bit cheaper.
Personal comments:
I was very lucky to live with only English students as this is the best way to learn the language properly. My flatmates became close friends and they were also a great help in the beginning as they would assist me with getting to know my way around Leeds. The rent was twice the amount of what I would have paid for the same standard of housing in Norway, but housing is quite expensive in the U.K. We had cleaners coming by every week, but I would have prefered to do it myself. My overall experience with the accomodation was very good. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because i would choose by my self which kind of house i want to rent.
Personal comments:
I was a nice accomodation beacuse the host university offered to me some of them to choose, but i had to do it from Spain so i did not know how was. My room was small, and the appartment was a few dirty, but fro me this year was relly good so i did not think so much about the accomodation, i am just enjoy with everything. Now, if i think about an accomodation i prefer an private appartment or a house, but always sharing with other people. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Type of housing: university accomodation but not on campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I think sharing a house with other international students and british students would have made me more independent and would have impropved contacts! I remember the house-parties and they were great!
Personal comments:
I liked it, it was a bit dissappointing that my preferences weren't really taken into account. And it was a shame that not all uni-accomodation had internet acces. For the rest Oxley was great, the surroundings were really nice, a lot of green, good bus connection, although the buses were never on time. Type of housing: Apartment/House

If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? More social then on campus living. Liked having cooking facilities and not having to rely on set dining hours.
Personal comments:
Housing locations at Leeds vary greatly. I was less then a five minute walk to campus, while other housing options were 4 miles away or in dodgy areas. Montague Burton was the name of my flat complex and in my opinon is the best choice for a foreign student. It was close to campus, had laundry facilities on site, and each room had high speed internet access. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I wanted to meet English people and I have heard thet university accomodation is often with other international students. And it is a much more free way of living. However I would concider trying to find other students to share a house, could be a nice way to meet new people not necessarily studying the same uni courses although there is alwas the risk that you don't get along.

Why? The accommodation was very disappointing at Leeds University. They did not take one single thing I put on my application for accommodation into consideration. I was put with a smoker when I asked not to be, and was given the most expensive flat to live in- when I had asked for cheaper flats. They would not listen or cooperate when I told them of these complaints, and action was only taken when my home university advisor stepped in. Process was slow and aggravating, as they lost my application to switch to another flat. It was hard enough adjusting to a new country, and dealing with accommodation hassles did not make anything any easier.

Type of housing: Private Student Accomodation
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because in Leeds there is a lot of cheaper, affordable accomodation for students to choose from. The other students that lived in the hall where extremely noisy and got back drunk and moody every single night!
Personal comments:
Being a EU postgrad meant that the university couldn't provide on campus accomodation, so I can't really comment on that. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
