HOUSING
by Sergio, Universidad de Granada, Granada, Spain
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? You can meet more people and be in an international environment. And I also think that you can learn more English because I was living with 5 English people.
Personal comments:
University of Newcastle gives you a lot of information about looking for accommodation and there are many different options which you can choose, with different facilities and prices. I found it very easy to book my accommodation and the people working there were perfect. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Sergio, Universidad de Granada, Granada, Spain
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Newcastle is a really university town. There are a lot of discos, clubs and cafes where you can meet people and have fun. If you want to be in a university environment you must go to the UNION. It is a kind of club inside the university where you can find nightlife and groups which organize activities and trips. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
If you don't try to meet English people and you just go out and be with people who speak your language you are not going to learn anything. You must try to be with English people and don't be shy. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
by Sergio, Universidad de Granada, Granada, Spain
Business Studies, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Food is cheaper in England than in Spain, at least in supermarkets, and I used to buy fast food. Here in Spain I have more time to cook and I spend more money. Housing is more expensive in England than in Spain but I had more facilities than here. And I spent more money on travel because I tried to visit a lot of interesting places. Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Telephone: was the same price as at home. Food: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
The university helps students to open a bank account, so it is very easy and cheaper, so I didn't have any financial surprises. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
