The language center is great, a lot of languages and you don't have to pay any money. there is also a good programme in intercultural communication.

You can travel to many places from tampere: Stockholm, Russia, Lapland, Latvia, Tallin... a lot of choice. And don't forget to rent a cottage for a weekend!

I took only thick woolen sweaters for the winter season and no T-shirts but I should have because in schools and computer labs it was hot! I could have taken a sleeping bag for travelling as well so that I didn't have to buy one here.

There is a great choice of post-study activities so you don't have to be bored anytime. The choice of the courses is optional so you don't have to study what you do not want. But definitely you would need a proper typing skills with all 10 fingers because for all exams you must write an essay.

Never hesitate when you have an opportunity to study abroad. It will enrich your horizons and enable to see things from a different point of view. Don't regret bigger investments because they will return in much bigger amount! As a matter of fact, the experiences, knowledge and friendships you will get are priceless.

This a pretty university. They get alot of visiting lecturers for international relations and this was a major bonus for me. It is wonderful to get a different insight into issues. I had American, Finnish and German teachers.

You will experience a culture shock in Finland. Perhaps the most striking thing for me was how quiet the place is. Words are kept to a minimum Finland and for the talkers among you, it could well be an incrediably frustrating place to live. However, many Finns, though reserved were welcoming and hospitable.I hope to go back and stay in a cabin by a lake someday.

Invest time in the Finnish students, if you do so they become excellent friends after a few weeks or so.

Very nice place, lots of different courses on all possible topics. Students are perhaps a little introvert, but considered the number of organised activities you'll get to know them as well.

Very nice country, try to go from November, less rain and more snow. Even better is starting in January, more day time light and people tend to cheer up as well. Get to know your fellow Finnish students! Don't remain in between students of your own nationality.

Tampere is the second biggest city in Finland, so it's not a small village. You can find theatres, cinemas, a lot of shops, cafeterias, etc. But it's not a big city neither. You can find a lot of green there, woods with beautiful lakes. Sometimes you miss sun there, but the winter is marvelous. As for the trips go to Tallin, Lapland and St. Petersburg!!

Travel as much as you can, use always the university restaurant (definitely cheaper than buying food and cooking it on your own)... And have fun!!
