Tampere is the second biggest city in Finland, so it's not a small village. You can find theatres, cinemas, a lot of shops, cafeterias, etc. But it's not a big city neither. You can find a lot of green there, woods with beautiful lakes. Sometimes you miss sun there, but the winter is marvelous. As for the trips go to Tallin, Lapland and St. Petersburg!! Read Review

HOUSING
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? You live on your own, it's quite similar to living on campus, university is close, but you've got the feeling of independence.
Personal comments:
In most cases very good, one apartament is shared by 3 people, 3 rooms for each one, a lot of place, kitchen and bath is shared

Overall
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Cafe Europe - on the first floor there is a pub and on the second floor you can find a disco. The music can be better, but it is the most common place for international students. Wappu - at 1rst of May a huge whole city party - everyone has to get drunk ;) - special atmosphere!!

Food, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Travel: was the same price as at home.
Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Food in the shop is basically expensive so it is often much cheaper to eat at uni caffeterias, since they are subsidized.
