Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources

Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
I did the Communications course which was fun and interactive and not really all that serious. The best thing about many of the courses offered for international students is that Swedish students are allowed to do them too, so you get the best of both worlds. We went on a field trip too to Berlin which was pretty cool.

Personal comments:
To tell the truth, I wasn't really there for the academics. BUT! I did enjoy the classes I took and the group projects we did. Other people did more serious courses than I did (like international law) which required more focus, but they seemed to learn a lot from those too.

Business Strategy Management is the best course I took there, really impressive. International Marketing is a good value course (measured by the amount of work it takes to get good grades). A huge percentage of students couldn't pass the Corporate Finance course but it's a very interesting one. Courses with essays (as opposed to exams) offer the best value.

Professor Iain Cameron is a bit of hard task master but his course in International Law was inspirational. Don't take this course if you want to party. Do take this course if you want to discover a very fluid, constantly changing, challenging and very rewarding area of law. I would especially recommend it if you are interested in international affairs and politics.

Immunology is supposed to be pretty good. I took Biophysical chemistry MN1(supposed to be the hardest course, but it's not so bad. The class was very small, so I got to know many locals). Project work is an excellent experiment, just make sure you'll get along with your supervisor.

Some of the courses were somewhat unorganized. They usually have several lecturers, so I suppose it can get quite difficult to make sure everything goes smoothly.

In most courses, you study one subject intensely for several weeks and then have an exam, before moving on to the next course. This was a very different type of assessment to what I was used, and took a bit of getting used to. No room for cramming before exams. It was necessary to keep up with the readings and class notes all of the time.

It seems that Swees like to read and give back the exact opinion of the author at the exams. Strange. Maybe not enough personnal opinion. Maybe i also didn't stay long enough to assess the whole degree and way of studying.

It would be better in my opinion to have more lessons, I mean we had maybe 4 hours, not even, maybe with resting time, 3 hours per week. I had the impression of beeing on holidays, we had to study everything for our own, it would be good to have at least 2 hours per day to keep a pace. Though the idea of working groups was great. I just lacked to receive more information from professors during class lessons.

Personal comments:
Some professors did not speak a clear English. Most of them spoke perfectly English. It was difficult to follow those who explained the lesson with such a weird accent (India, one Swedish professor Org Behavior too). Try to stimulate relationships among swedish and erasmus students. I don t remember not even one swedish in my group. Photocopies are so extremly expensive in Uppsala. Having lesson at 8 in the morning when you have later all the day without other lessons seems ridiculous. At 7 it was -15 and totally dark in the street, paronama was scary.
