Denmark is an expensive country due to its high taxes (VAT). Every service is quite expensive, which means that every time you go to a restaurant, bar or disco and you ask for something you are paying for a service that is associated with a high tax and, thus, you end paying more than you would pay in most of the countries. Prices in the supermarket are quite reasonable, but overall they are more expensive. Nightlife can get very expensive if you want to drink (around 4/6eur. for a beer and 10eur. for a long drink). In most of the discos you don't pay an entrance fee before midnight. After that you pay between 7/12eur. Public transports are expensive as well and you should avoid them. It is not difficult to get a bike and you will probably use it most of the times to go from one place to another. If you want to use the bus often (in winter it will snow and it will be very cold) you should buy a month ticket or 10 journeys tickets). I payed around 350eur. per month for accommodation, but depending from which country you are, you might pay half of that price. A good thing about Denmark is that you don't pay anything to go to the doctor once you are registered as a citizen (you will get card with a CPR number). Per month, I spent around 800eur., everything included. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Partying at home or in university related places is not expensive. Usually you pay around 0,70eur. for a beer and 1,40eur. for a long drink. You have to be careful when you go to restaurants (even fast food ones), bars and discos because it is quite expensive there. Buy as much as you can in the supermarket. Some students find a part-time job pretty easily (hotels, factories, etc.) and are very well payed. If you want to spend a lot of money going out at night you might need to get one (specially if you are staying for one year). This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Food and housing is generally much more expensive in Denmark than in Poland. The telephone costs, on the other hand, are lower and allowed me to save some money. As for the nightlife- I used to party most often in the campus area, with other Erasmus students. And in this case, it was possible to lower the spendings. Travel costs were generally low, but I used to travel a lot (even 2-3 abroad trips a month) and that s why I spent more money on travels, than usually Food, Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
The host university used to give out additional grants (about 250 euros) to the students of eastern europe, but they have stopped to do that from September 2010. There are a lot of different shops in the city, and it's good to go shopping to all of them one by one, to buy the cheapest products This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal comments:
I had a quite cheap life there. Didn't go out too much because we always did parties in the Campus. I had problems with my Visa Electron card, they dont work there so I had to open a bank account in a Danish bank. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
