Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
German was never a language I would have chosen to study, but I ended up really liking it and taking the time to learn the language. Don't be afraid of it! The basics are quite easy to learn.

Academic
Course recommendations
You take courses with other international students and occasionally with Austrians in the English-language program. Great professors, and they offer a large amount of block classes which really help your schedule. Take Strategic Management with Gernot Maier! You will never forget that weekend.

Personal spending habits
Food is definitely more expensive, but housing is a real deal in Vienna. There is no other big city in Western Europe that has such low rent. Expect about 300-375 euros for a single bedroom in a good location. It really gives you a lot more to spend elsewhere.

Personal recommendation
Go! If you want to see Europe, this is the cheapest and best city to base yourself from. It's central, it has such an interesting youth culture, though I definitely would not pick it for academic reasons (speaking from the English-language course perspective. German courses are difficult).

Great people, though the main language at Haus Erasmus was English and the majority of students were from North America. However, everyone is very friendly.
