Why? Rooms are no where near SOUND PROOF, its like you are living with ten other people. You can hear anything going on in the next two rooms, god forbid they like music, or tv!
Personal comments:
i have to admit the facilities are not that good, but we had activities, and help to available to all who need it. Housing at this university is hard to get in to if you are not a first year student, but once you get in and get to know the people its all good.

Why? York is a great university. The trouble is that the location is pretty far from downtown. One hour by bus and subway.
Personal comments:
It was pretty good.It depends on what you want. On campus you can have free acess to the library, to the computers...But it is very far from downtown and all the cultural life !

Why? I would like to experience out of campus accomodation, be at the center of the city life.
Personal comments:
Living in residence was an amazing experience. It is so much different than French campuses. I got to live like a regular Canadian guy and that is what I wanted. There were only very few cons.

Why? the university campus is quite far away fron toronto downtown and for me it was important to experience the city life as well apart from the people I got to know at university
Personal comments:
there is nothing I can say abaout that, because I didn't live on campus

It was clean, also nice, but too expensive! To get to know the city better, you should choose an accomodation downtown, not on campus!

Why? Because the life experience of a campus goes beyond the accademic content of the University and I believe it is unparalleled in terms of cultural mix and leisure opportunities
Personal comments:
I lived in a very small but nice bachelor in campus where I had a kitchen, a sitting-bed room and a washroom. This kind of accomodation ensured me much independence, although a "collective" accomodation in of of the campus colleges would have been even better in terms of living a university life.

Why? I wanted to live downtown, the university is located in the north part of the city, at hour hour from the downtown area so i've decided to live off campus.
Personal comments:
I've been living for one term on campus and one term off campus. I prefered living off campus: i was closer from shops, clubs, places to see and to go. I was living with four other foreigners (3 students and 1 workers) in the Korean part of Toronto, it was a great experience!

Why? I would rather live off campus and commute in, as the campus was not on the metro train system and further away from the city, with its employment/facilities/nightlife than I expected.
Personal comments:
Accommodation with sufficient catering facilities were lacking, I applied and paid for self catering and got 6 people sharing a hotplate that could not even boil water. There was also a lack of healthy eating options and affordable food in the general store. Otherwise the facilities were modern and suited to study.

Why? The location of the off-campus accomodation the host university provided was not convenient due to deficiency in public transport to campus and city area.
Personal comments:
The accomodation offer did not mention some aspects of the apartment - namely that is was a basement apartment, only one bedroomed and had to be shared with another exchange student.

Why? If you live on campus you're way off all the attractions the city has to offer. If you rent an appartment downtown you're right in the centre.
