HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose:
Why? On campus. But if you can, stay in the e,j or k dorm, at least they have private bath and small kitcen and aircon.
Personal comments:
OK, but avoid the student village accomodation near the garbage dump, which is in middle of the campus (!!) Also, sometimes there is a lot of noise from other students, especially in the standards dorms. And the sports facilities are just outside some of the dorms so there is a lot of noise from people playing badminton, tennis etc. The standard dorm rooms are quite small also. I found accomodation at AIT to be so so. Again, the e,j, and k dorms are by far the best. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
There is NOTHING to do around AIT. The nearest shopping mall is Future Park, which is about 15 km away. To go to Bangkok city takes about 1 hour by shuttle bus and costs 30 baht one way. Taxi takes about 45 minutes but costs about 250 baht. During the semester I seldom had time to go into bkk. AIT campus is peaceful, or boring, depending on how you see it... In BKK there are too many great nightspots to mention here. It is only too bad that BKK is quite far away from AIT. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Courses were interesting and the lecturers very good.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
The library is quite pathetic. Much too small to be a university library. You basically have to rely on books from other university libraries around BKK. It can take a lot of time though to go to other libraries and find books. The staff at AIT library were friendly and helpful though. The library is just to small. The AIT does however live up to excellent academic standards in terms of teaching and course content. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Other Other sources of funding:

I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Nightlife in BKK city is not so cheap, but still OK. Food on campus is cheap and bad. Very poor quality of the food in the cafeteria. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food: was the same price as at home. Housing: was less expensive than at home.

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
nothing that would have changed my experience here. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
AIT is a world class academic institution. But it is a pretty boring place to live for two or more years... It is far from LIFE in downtown Bangkok. One thing more, what surprised me, the AIT being a technology institute and all, was the lousy internet connection in the student dorms. Even though I opted for ADSL connection for 450 baht per month the internet was grindingly slow, and sometimes you were not able to access websites like Yahoo at all... This was quite annoying as it is really convenient to be able to surf the net for info in your room. But this was not always a smooth and easy experience, despite the fact I actually paid extra for a faster connection. Frankly, the internet connection speed in the dorms sucked! Many students complained about this. FINAL COMMENTS
The AIT is a good place to study because there is not much else to do! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
