Dublin City University (DCU)
DCU, 9 Dublin, Ireland
Description:
The University is located on a fifty acre campus in the northern suburbs of Dublin. Most of the University's programmes are provided in new, purpose-built buildings designed specifically for their needs, while the University's engineering programmes are currently housed largely in the older buildings on campus, some of which date back to the establishment of the Albert Agricultural College in the last century. The latter have been extensively refurbished and modernised. The campus with its adjoining parks constitutes a pleasant and productive environment for study and research.

Irland IS very very expensive. The accomodation situation in Dublin is strained - they can let whatever they want. Food is approx. 20 % more expensive than at home. Nightlife as well - entrance fees up to 7 Euros are quite normal. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
The bus ticket is really a financial surprise - too expensive for students. Saving tip: buy a bike if you live close to the university. Its also great fun to cycle around with friends - and its also a cheap way to come to the city center and back ;-) =>taxis are expensive and its hard work to catch one during the weekend. I spend more simply because life in dublin is much more expensive than where i live in france. As far as housing is concerned dublin is the first most expensive city after london i think, and because it is an island, most of the products are quite expensive. Moreover in france i had a car, whereas in dublin i take the bus or taxis, and those are expensive as well. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.

Prices in the supermarket were even lower than in Spain in some products. I used a lot my mobile but I didnt spend more than 20 e per months,Meteor was the company I used there cause it has really good rates. About housing, I spent 275 e per month for a shared room....terrible! Nightlife was a bit more expensive than in Spain, but there are no problems if u know where to go each day. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone: was less expensive than at home.

Yes : do not hesitate to come with you own car - the ferry is not very expensive, but living 10 minutes away by car will be a lot cheaper. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal comments:
bad financial surprise because the rent I was paying didn't include electricity and heating, and in Ireland, it is FREEZING cold in the flats during the winter, but they don't turn on the heating !!! So, if you do it for yourself, you have to pay. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
