It is less expensive to go to Lille via Bruxels instead of going via Paris.(Check Virgin)

Final comments
Lille's location is wonderful for travelling. It only takes an hour to go to Paris, 40 min to go to Bruxells...etc.

No problems, I would not reccomend people who do not speak french to go there. It is not always easy to comunicate with English.

You will find if you go there. One of the good things about my host university is that you can get easily lots of information about events, nightclubs...etc. In Rue Massena there are plenty of clubs, and in Vieux Lille lovely restaurants (let's try la cave aux fioles)

There is not much to choose, wether you go to a residence or you rent an appartment. Most of the residences are at the campus, mine is quite far but it's in the center. It depends on what you like.
