I would recommend you to apply for the student residence offered by the University- it is very valuable for making contacts with the other international students and it's really close to the school. The metro and the RER are very fast and effective way to travel in Paris. If you like to travel a lot, apply for a carte jaune. Read Review

It depends on the taste of the audience. For good clubbing experience I recommend Mix, Red Light, Rex and sometimes Queen.

I wish I had known...
Not really! Everything was well arranged by the host institution. Non EU students still need to pass through some time consumming administrative activities like applying for a residence permit etc.
