Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German
How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
when I came to germany, I had basic knowledge due a 3 month placement I have done in Germany before. I unfortunately never studied german, therefore my written skills are not as good as my oral skills. The only problem occuring is when (especially elderly) people start speaking extreem bavarian, but happens maybe once per month, and after you explain your not from the area, they adjust and there are no further problems.

The best way to learn and speak a language is to leave in the country. I improved a lot and now i'm at ease in any situation and i don't feel scared to speak with somebody else, even in the street or at work
