Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU)

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Schloßplatz 4, 91054 Erlangen, Germany
4.05 / 5 based on 66 reviews.
Description:
Respect for tradition and receptiveness to new ideas plus a particularly wide range of subjects including courses taught in English: these are the special features of the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). With its eleven faculties - nine of which are situated in Erlangen and two in Nuremberg - our university is the second largest in Bavaria with currently some 20,000 students enrolled. Although 70 per cent of FAU students originate from the Northern Bavarian area called Franconia, there are almost 2000 foreign students from all over the world who have come to study to Erlangen or Nuremberg. For many years the FAU has also had partnership ties with numerous foreign universities.

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because by living in an appartment you get to know germans much quicker.
Personal comments:
The accomodation was very good. Most of it was in the centre of the town eg. the Alex, Hoffmann str., Henke str. But some student wohnheims were out of the centre like hartmannstr.

Personal comments:
I think the exam system in erlangen is terrible. Most of our exams were oral ones. Alot of the time it seemed very unfair. You could know lots but be asked a question that you did not know the answer to. Also if you got on well with the person examining you you could get a high mark. very unfair
