HOUSING
by Holmae, Institut Superieur De Gestion, Paris, France
Marketing and Sales Management, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? If I go back to Sweden, I will manage to find an apartment in the city center to have a better access to library, shopping center, sport center...
Personal comments:
The accommodation at the Göteborgs Universityt is good with a lot of student offers (sport, animation, availability to travel around nordic countries for low cost..). However, the campus gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of european students. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Mechthild, Fachhochschule Reutlingen, Reutlingen, Germany

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Gothenburg is located centrally in the Scandianivan area, which facilitates trips to Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen. You shouldn't miss a "Norway cruise": 2 days trip to Kristiansand on a party boat for a ecconomical price. Clubbing is expensive and you have to be over 23 (females) or 25 (males) or even older. Nethertheless, good spots are Studentshus (the student house that organizes big parties once in a while), Våland or Nerfertiti This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
by Markus, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna, Austria

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
All courses held by Mr. Charles Nadeau are very good although they are not easy. There are plenty of economics courses which are also very demanding.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
If you don´t have to pass a specific level (C/D)from your home university try to attend lower levels. In each course you have to write Essays and papers in groups, try to begin early with the work! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Basic phrases Personal comments:
Local language is too difficult for a latin speaker. I took some swedich classes, among with some german and austrian students, who learned it much faster than I did. This way, in order to get the most profit of my experience (social and academic) I quit the language course, because it took me a lot of time to study meanwhile. Anyway, through TV and the family I lived with, I was able to basically develop local language and was able to sustain some rudimentar conversation with native speakers. EXPENSES
by Bernardo, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal
Financial Management, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Life standards are far higher in Sweden than in Portugal. One must do a financial effort in order to support himself on scandinavian countries. I felt like most of the foreign students had the same problem. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
I didn't discover any in 6 months. Anyway, I was able to save a lot of money as my housing fee was entirely supported by the host family (except food, clothing and other primary goods). Food is not that expensive in small supermarkets in the outskirts of the main avenues. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Nothing special. It was enough for me to be admitted to The Master Program and be provided with information on living expenes. However I would have liked to know a bit more about the interaction with companies. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I cannot really speak for the University as a whole, but for the Gradute Business School where I studied. The School should futher interaction with companies, should reconsider the marking system which has only three grades. FINAL COMMENTS
I have not only gained intercultural experience but also an understanding of the importance of being open minded flexible and independent. It is one of the greatest learning experiences of my life that is making me grow stronger more independent and autonomous, as well as fully integrating me into an international culture. Do not be afraid to come to Sweden because you do not speak swedish. Everybody here speaks english, you should also try Sweden during summer especially its two islands on the east coast.
