Great experience. Be aware that being in a graduate program is very demanding and very much different from being in an undergradute one. Time management is essential! Read Review

Type of housing: 2d semester : Off campus
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? is it an unforgettable experience to get the chance to discover the way of living of American students on campus, and it is easier to integrate yourself into thecampus life. But it is also great to change and to experience the life of the Georgetown district in Dc, so it is also a very enriching experience to live off campus, to be more independent and to share a house with roomates.
Personal comments:
Very convenient and confortable, European students are not often used to so much space and modernity within a house ! But the counterpart is that it is very expensive !

Overall
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
At the beginning I was scared by the difficulty I had understanding other students because of speed and slang. On the other hand, I didn't hav any problem to understand teachers but was slow for my reading assignments. Having an American roommate helped me a lot to adapt and interact with other American students and also in everyday life.

FINAL COMMENTS

It's very easy to travel from Washington DC to others city on the east coast but don't hesitate to compare geryhound buses and flight tickets because you can pay 10$ more by air but save 9 or 10 hours which is good for weekends.(website:studentuniverse) One last thing if you want to go to NY take the "chinatown buses", it's very unexpensive.
