That public transportation is not really good and that it is absolutely necessary to live close to downtown and the university if you don´t come with your car through the ferry.

Personal recommendation:
In general a good university, teachers are very informal and helpful. It is possible to do exams for courses offered in Icelandic in English, check with the teachers.



FINAL COMMENTS

Travel a lot!!!! You will never see such magnificent nature again. Do the golden circle, go to the Blue Lagoon, to Jökulsarlon, Snæfellsnes, Vestfirđir, Mũvatn, Askja, just to name the highlights. Never underestimate the wheather. If you travel and plan to go in the winter or wanna leave the ring road, rent a 4WD!

IT'S AN AMAZING COUNTRY - don't go home after university is finished - take your time to travel around. And I didn't know that it's not that cold... It's far in the north but - to say the truth - in Austria it's often much colder in winter..

It's a nice university in the centre of Reykjavík. Some courses are really good - f.e. I enjoyed the course "Economic development and Globalization" most. And most of the teachers are really motivated and encourage the students.

Final comments.. hmm.. If you don't have a problem to go to a country, where the weather can change every 5 minutes - then just go there and have the time of your life.. :)

It is very tiny and a bit unorganised, but overall very OK.



FINAL COMMENTS

If you´re going for the wintersemester, try on one hand to go earlier and make a tour through Iceland in Summer and on the other hand get to go to the Erasmus Intensive Language Course - it is free for Erasmus students, you get a scholarship for it, you learn the basics of Icelandic, you meet a lot of people who are staying there too and there will be more organised trips. I was glad I did it that way, because there are few opportunities to travel during the semester.

I did not really realize, that the Krona (local currency) undergoes quite heavy fluctuations. Think about that, when you change money.

Come a few days before the semester starts, so you don't get stressed out about the bureaucratic stuff.

When possible, you should go to Lanndsmannalaugur and Vik. In my opinion the most beatiful spots. At least one trip in the beatiful landscape is a must!

It's a really familiar place and the university experience is just unique!

If you travel around you should use a 4-wheel-drive because Icelandic roads are in a very bad condition. But all in all, Iceland is a really facinating country and you shouldn't miss it!!

The people, the activities everything. If you want to know a totally differnt culture( of mine ofcourse), choose Reykjavik

Don't go on any trips arranged by companies, they are really expensive. Rent your own car instead with some friends and see Iceland that way. It's more fun and a lot cheaper!

Try to travel as much as possible. This country is beautiful. Take with you a good warm jacket, a hat, a scarf and gloves. The wind and the weather in Iceland is very often really cold, windy and wet.

Nice people and structured courses! If you like written assignment during a course, Icelandic studies is something for you!

Iceland is different and it is fun! Bring warm clothes and enough money. Travel as fast as you can if you are going fallsemester, cause snow comes early and roads get closed.Be social and just have fun!
