Expenses
Main source of funding:
Personal savings
Other sources of funding:
Government assistance
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
Food expenses were high mainly due to constant dining outside. Nightlife is quite expensive, especially for men who traditionally pay for everything. Telephone-costs in Mexico are pretty high related to other countries.

Food, Telephone, Nightlife, Overall:
was the same price as at home.
Housing:

Accessibility of student needs
Second-hand household items
Personal comments
Be prepared for the services costs in addition to your rent. Those may well be about 20-25% of your rent! Don't eat at campus, it's really expensive and you can get way more authentic/tasty food nearby!

I liked it honestly, though you must be prepared for a lot of work! There's no chance for last-minute improvements in TEC!!!

Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice

Personal recommendation
It's the party central for international students located positively for traveling. For those who actually want to study (as I did) the academic level is high and require tons of work!

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
Nearby campus most of the people speak English pretty well. Don't let this fool you, as outside the city barriers you will need Spanish to get by!Local slang is quite amusing, but it's pretty easy to learn too.

Personal comments
Housing in general is weel organized in TEC. I heard comments from negative to positive from friends who lived in host families. Campus accomodations can vary too, depending on whether you're lucky enough to get a room from the most modern building.

Barrio Antiguo is the dominating nightlife scene in MTY. I recommend Bar-Rio for special occasions (very expensive) but encourage you to visit smaller bars n pubs, you may be well surprised by the positive atmosphere! Another bar center can be found in San Pedro. Alebrije is extremely popular thorought MX, but my personal favourites are Cabana&Cocktail for chilling and Motel for clubbing. There are several nice cafe/bar/diners around campus. Check out at least sushi bar, bamboo and the jamaican lot (can't remember the name...)
