Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? to be independent and to have my own kitchen and bathroom
Personal comments:
This was really good. I had to share my appartment with an other student for bathroom. otherwise for the kitchen i had to share with 10 others personns. this is too much. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Schall & Rauch - Best bar! Just around the corner from uni at Schellingstrasse Milch Bar - a club in Kunstpark Ost (an edge where it´s brilliant to go out) You always have something to do in Muenchen! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
As the university is so large it is also very impersonnel. Lectures often have 300 students attending (although half of them tend to leave after 30 mins). Seminars can also be quite hard as some of the lecturers treat you as if you are a German student regardless of whether you understanding of German is good enough.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
More consideration for Erasmus students (if you are treated like a German student then the expectations are too high and it is very hard to pass the exams at the end of the course). The translation classes I attended were good in this respect and the tutors gave the Erasmus students some leeway when marking work. Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
Most students speak good english and other people in Munich less so. The locals in Bayern have a strong accent but not really sizeable in Munich. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I spend less on food due to the differences in prices (pound versus euro). more on travel bacause I ski a lot and more on phone because there is no internet access at halls of residence and it is extremely difficult to get the internet access with any of the companies here. Travel, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home. Food: was less expensive than at home.

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Make sure everything is clear with your home university before going (equivalence, scholarship,...) In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Big uni, well located in the city (check out the Englisher Garten next to it). Be autonomous, don't expect a great help from teachers or administration. I mean they're nice but not really available for students... FINAL COMMENTS
Munich is an attractive city, clean and safe, but make sure you taste the Real Bavaria (Chiemsee, the Alps...) and MittelEuropa (CH, CZ, A, SK). Take part in most excursions & the Orientierungskurs offered at the beginning. A first a Münchner might look sober and not willing to talk much, but wait till you share a Mass of Helles with him! Mit freundlichen Grüssen. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
