I wish I had known...
My purse was stolen the third week I was here and it was VERY dificult to get another passport and it was not convenient location. Just take the money you want to spend and maybe one credit card with you!! Travel to Bali if you get a chance, its pretty inexpensive! Get to know the people from AUstralia and don't just hang out with other people from America who are on exchange. Go home with a native of the country and see how they live - its really great!! Take advantage of all you can - this country is amazing!!

I would highly recommend it to students who enjoy a small university that is away from everything. You are not close to much nightlife - everywhere you go requires a cab, even the grocery store. The classes are great and the profesors are wonderful -they are very layed back and willing to help in any way they can! THe accomodations are good also!

I wished I had known how easy it was to travel around in hostels and meet people, because I was really scared about it before I left.

Its a little far from the city but overall my experiences there were good. The study abroad administration there is great and very helpful! I never experienced any problems but I know if I did I could have counted on them to help me there.

To sum it up, my experience in Melbourne was by far the best experience of my life. I learned sooo much, became very much more independent, and overall had a great time. Before I went over there I had never met anyone else from another country. I now can say I have good friends from all over the world and the US... Especially Australia and England. Australia is a beautiful country. I toured the entire east coast and loved it. I would highly recommend Byron Bay, and the Whitsunday Islands. and of course i LOVED melbourne, its an incredible city! All in all I had an incredible time and wouldnt trade my time that I spent there for anything in the world!! If anyone wants any advice or anything at all feel free to contact me, as I would be more than happy to help you guys with anything!!

I wish I had known...
I decided to study after I had already been in Australia for over 17 months and therefore I was quite familiar with the culture and people here. I also had enough time and help to research any information that I needed before I enrolled. I knew all I needed and never came across anything crucial that directly influenced me in any way that I did not know before enrolling. Crowder College and College of the Ozarks that I attended in the United States both had well-prepared, informative booklets which I received before enrolling. I found all the information in these booklets. I also made myself familiar with the environment around the schools before committing, so I was not surprised later at all. Before I left my home country, Czech Republic, when I was 17 year old I knew that things are not going to be easy and made sure that I always checked everything and did enough research before committing to anything.

I believe that Monash University is the best one in my academic career so far. I think that the academic standard is very high and the lecturers and professors have a genuine interest in helping the students to reach their goals. The life on campus is well organized and I am sure that people that live on campus feel the very homey atmosphere, which makes it easy for them to fulfil their academic commitments. I was very pleased with my decision to enrol to Monash University and continue my education here. The tourism program fulfilled my dream to study what I am genuinely interested in and made me enjoy school more then I ever enjoyed it before. I would recommend this institution to any one who likes to receive great education while having a great time in a lovely, warm climate.

As I already mentioned, I definitely recommend this university to all people that are interested in good education. On top of the fact that this is a university with a great reputation, it is also in a great location. Melbourne lies at the top of Port Phillip Bay, which offers, great opportunities to wind surf, dive, swim or just lie on the beach. Bells beach and other good surfing destinations are only a short drive away as well. Food and wine lovers would only welcome the close location of Yarra Valley that offers the best wines in Australia. Melbourne itself is a great entertainment city and one can find just about anything in it from good theatres, restaurants, good night clubs to artificial climbing walls. I also have to mention that Mt. Bulla that can satisfy skiers’ and snowboarders’ dreams is only 2 hours drive away from Melbourne. I can hardly think of any university in a better location. Find out for yourself…

Studying at Monash is a great experience and an ideal place to interact with students from all over the world. in terms of education, the standards are really high and business education is greatly appreciated among the employers. This is especially true when it comes to learning about marketing. The marketing department of monash caulfield has notably won a world award in 2002 rewarding the marketing research department: elected world best for 2002.(another goods reason to choose Monash!)

The Student Association (MONSU) should pay more attention on international student and try to organize field trip.

Aside from the money issue, I think I knew most of what I needed. I wanted to be able to experience things as they came to me and not have a preconcieved idea as to what should be happening. If any problems did arise, the abroad staff at Monash was exteremly helpful, no matter what the problem.

I really enjoyed my time at Monash. The academics were excellent, and the atmosphere on campus was great. Everyone is very friendly and laid back. They encourage you to get invovled and make it very easy for you to become more active in the campus life.

If you are thinking about studying abroad, whether at Monash or anywhere, GO. It will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself, and you will be amazed at the opportunites that arise from it. In the end it does not matter if the bathrooms weren't always clean, or it took you forever to get somewhere because you got lost, or if you finished a paper the morning it was due. It will be the friends you made, the things you did and days you couldnt stop smiling. It is not the easiest thing I have ever done, it is hard to so far away from my family and friends. Then once I left it was hard to be away from all the people and things I had in Australia, but it was the best decision I ever made. It has changed myself and life completely and all for the better.
