Try to study hard during the week and to have the weekend free to travel. Don't hang out only with the other exchange students, don't be shy to meet the locals!! Read Review

Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because off campus we were free to organize our days without any sort of constraints and to manage our social lives in the most indipendent way. Furthermore.. so nice to share a flat, cook, have parties in your own place together with friends from all over the world..
Personal comments:
We were living at the 15th floor of a sky scraper 20 min far from the campus but we were pretty close to the City so that we didn't miss the facilities of the Campus.

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Singapore is fun but expensive. Travel to the neighbouring countries, especially the islands and spend time on the beach. Tioman, Bintan (Trikora beach), Peranthian, and Phi Phi are not to be missed. Sentosia, on the other hand, is over rated.

Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
Their is a bit of a divide between local and exchange students, as local students mostly think exchange students are not serious about work and are only here to travel.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
The workload to be more fluent per module. There were a lot of work clashes within modules alone let alone with your different modules.

How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
English was the official language in Singapore. I love their slang and their cute chinese accent.. they call it Singlish!! The English of one of my professors was really bad and this fact made me hate his course.

Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Personal savings
Other sources of funding:

It was not legal for me to work
Personal spending habits:
When doing an exchange, one gets to know many people, so one goes out more often. Singapore is also a good place to travel around in very cheap South-East Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand...
Travel, Nightlife, Telephone: was more expensive than at home.
Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home.
Food: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Only currency exchange-rate sometimes gives valuable extra-purchasing power.

Important to choosing this university...

KEY:
Very Important.

Unimportant.
Culture

Activities
Campus life
Party / people
Weather / Location
I wish I had known...
That there are no moskitos in Singapore, that the water is clean to drink. Before going, a doctor recommended me to take a moskitos nest and some medicine to drink the water. No use! Singapore is so clean!!!
In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
Try to mix with local students, that means do not always stay with your international friends. The local you get to know will bring you many interesting things (culture, good advice, good spots...)

FINAL COMMENTS

Singapore is not really worth visiting in itself; but it is a good place to travel from: First tip, cambodia and the temples in Angkor, second tip, Koh Tarutao, a Thai island.
