Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? As a foreign student in Holland, it is always good to penetrate and feel the real Dutch life. I have confident that I can organize it by myself.
Personal comments:
The condition is not so bad, but the rental is rather high compared with current conditions in Holland.

Personal comments:
Time management is an essential element in our daily life. Especailly to our foreign students. Besides studying, we have to spend a lot of time and energy on many aspects in our daily life, like, all kinds of personal affairs: food, relationship with your surroundings, get alone with others, health problems, etc. To well manage everything arround yourself is not a easy thing. But try to do it better can help you a lot on your academic studies.

My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
Personal comments:
Being study in alient, it is always necessary to learn local language and understand the local culture background. It would help you to melt into the local life and used to it. Before came to Holland, I could not speak Dutch, after several months living in Holland, I have communicated with Dutch poeple, speaking Dutch to them, gradually, I can speak more and more. Try to open your mouth and don't be shy is my way to learn and this method is really working!

Personal spending habits:
Food and housing is much more expensive than they're in China. I don't use a telephone in Holland, thus, I don't spend money on it. I like travelling, so I spend more or less same money on my hobbies. Nightlife is also same because I don't go so often.
Food, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was the same price as at home.
Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Usually, I brought my necessaries from cheapest supermarket, like AlDI, LIDL, so on. Also, if possible, to do some part-time job is a way to earn some money. Besides, I'm negotiating with my Dutch friends, because I hope we can run a company together and do business internationally.
