Personal recommendation
I loved my stay at PSU. There were many activities planned by the University and plenty of non-University events also going on. State College is a really fun town and the University offers a wide variety of interesting courses. If you want to be near a big city, PSU wouldn't be the place to go, since it's nestled in a small rural community. The closest big city (Philadpelphia) is about a 3 hour drive. I really enjoyed the University-town life though.

I would recommend PSU as a great university to go to as part of a study abroad program. It's great to go there for football season - the town goes crazy around this time and for Thon. Philadelphia, Washington DC and NYC aren't too far away for weekend trips. PSU is a really pretty campus, especially in fall.

State College was an amazing experience that you will remember for the rest of your life.  It can be a bit overwhelming if you enter here as a freshman, which I did.  It is a large campus that offers you a variety of opportunities which may take an individual some time to determine his or her path.  My first two years I spent changing majors twice, however by my junior year I figured out my career path.  Although there were a few exceptions, most of the offered courses were amazing especially in my junior and senior years where the class sizes for your major were smaller and more appropriate.  The social life was incredible-  we certainly refer to it as "Happy Valley" for reasons!

A large variety of courses were offered with excellent staff to cover all of them. There were so many things to on campus as well. Plenty of clubs, activities, sports etc to choose from. The people and staff were very warm and friendly. Huge international student presence and great international support to go along with it. Classes were engaging and insightful. My time here flew by !

Master of Systems Engineering on-line program

Overall
I attended the 2-year program in Graduate school in 2018-2019.
The program is 100% on-line.

The studies are very intensive with home assignments submitted every week (and strict rules against delays). It takes 20 hours per week AT LEAST.

I highly recommend the program to people who already have a Masters degree in some kind of engineering, practical experience in their field and an ambition to lead engineering projects.

The University offers so many opportunities to its students. It's incredible! They are also very flexible with majors since you have a chance to switch it at any time you want. Very interesting student life as well. There is more than 300 clubs you can join so it covers all the possible interests. I never regretted the decision of going there.

how easy/difficult is to find funding at the university (as opposed to come by my own means or try to get funding beforehand).

it is not too bad to drive from the major cities nearby (Phili, Pittsburgh) and that can save you some money (instead of flying to State College). you can even take the bus if the schedule is adapted.
