HOUSING
by Aron, Universidad Internacional, Cuernavaca, Mexico
Education, Independent
Personal assessment
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Because I would have more interaction with people of the country and because there would be more people and it often means more activities. Also, it ussually means close to the University and there are the libreries which are very important as a student.
Personal comments:
It was fine. I cannor complain. I simply think it would have been a little better to live at the Campus. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? My room on campus was rather cramped. I coul have done with more space
Personal comments:
I only spent a semester at the University, so naturally I didn't receive the best accomodation. However, in general I believe most housing at Heidelberg university is very good. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? I wish I could have lived on campus with other students but places are very limited
Personal comments:
I was lucky to find something cheap and with a nice landlady but many people really struggled and had to live out of town This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Type of housing: Shared housing with other students
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: same
Why? I wanted to live with German students, whereas most Erasmus students stay in an international environment, which is very interesting, but doesn't really allow to meet local persons.

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Close to the city, and there's more freedom to choose the type of lodging. Plus, the university has a service for students looking for housing, which is really helpful!
Personal comments:
The only downside is that appartments are expensive...but there's something for every budget within a 25 minute bus/train ride...from what I've heard, student "dorms" are an interesting experience, but not too independent or comfortable This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Type of housing: Private Dormitory
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? That is generally the best form of accomodation there.
Personal comments:
It was generally very inexpensive, but the accomodations were scattered, inconvenient and not very good sometimes. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I enjoy having a kitchen to cook in and the responsibility of renting an apartment. I enjoyed having a housemate but I am also willing to live alone.
Personal comments:
I was lucky to have a great housemate and the apartment was just right for a year abroad. The location was not in the center of Heidelberg, but the commute was not difficult and the location lowered the price. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
