HOUSING
by Manuel, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Madrid, Spain
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? The Residence was quite far from the University and the Center of the City, plus the connections by bus or other public transport was very bad.
Personal comments:
The University is perfect for Exchange students because there are so many facilities and the integration with home students is very easy. Althoug the learning abilities used in class are differnet from my home University and very usfull.

STUDENT LIFE
by Iria, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Political Science, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
To me the night life in Stockholm is the mirror of the people that live there.Theater, dance and alot of experimental artistical aspects. As a modern agora where you can meet not only for drink a coffe or just read international press : Kulturhuset...with a fantastic cafe Café Panomara, where is the best place where to comment the last interpretation in the Satdsteater, lights , buildings withe the unique atmosphere from a northern capital. If you love contemporary dance:don´t miss the Dansesn Hus( good prices and excellent ambient).Maybe you prefer dance and not attending to this shows: the firt step is going to the Campus and meeting other peple in your same situation. Stokholm is plenty of museums: Vasa, Contemporary Art Museum designed by Moneo,Skansen, etc;just for walking Djurgárden.I always went to Sķdermalm the youngest part of this fantastique city.

ACADEMIC
by workabroad, University of Iowa, Iowa City, United States
Political Science, ISEP
My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
They cancelled almost all of the classes I was to take after I arrived in Sweden. They only had one book for an entire class to use, this was the norm in all of my classes. They need to structure the Swedish classes properly to enable us to learn tenses correctly.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
They need more books, and more organization among the staff and the international student planning.

Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Did not speak it

How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: Basic phrases
Personal comments:
very hard to combine the language course with the other university courses but a gret experience, through the language you can understand the culture of a population. Important to at least try to learn it

EXPENSES
by alessiodlg, Universitā Degli Studi Di Roma - Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy
Business Studies, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
Less for the telephone because all friends lived in the same building, so there was actually no need to call each other, it was easy to come by each other rooms. Accomodation was more expensive because in my home country I live home, and on average Stockholm accomodations are more expensive than in Rome. Nightlife is more expensive expecially because alcol in Sweden is taxed by the state and this makes pubs, restaurants and bars more expensive.
Nightlife, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Travel, Overall: was the same price as at home.
Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
none

I wish I had known...
To have more information about not only English - taught courses for Erasmus students but also have information about the courses in Swedish language, because the textbook and references are in English, so this imply the possibility of making extra courses if the relative teachers are willing to examine you in English (like it happened to me).
In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
It is a wonderful place to have a good personal experience abroad, meeting people from all Europe and even outside Europe. In my case was not the perfect choice for studies because I come from Economics and Finance and there I studied more Business studies, which was ok anyway for me to complete parts of my degree.

FINAL COMMENTS

An experience that I suggest to anyone, the best opportunity we have during our academic studies. Once there it is compulsory to travel as much as possible because for students it's cheap and the places are amazing. Wonderful travels to Lappland, North Cape, Fiords (Norwey) and the Lake District in Finland. Easy connection also to Estonia and Russia.
