In large cities young people tend to have a set group of friends so it's often hard to make a group of local friends. You just have to keep trying and talk to everyone you can. Also don't take the easy option of just being with other foreigners all the time. Read Review

Cost of living is much lower but Telefonica was a monopoly and its prices inflated
Telephone: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
take out money from cash points in large quantities. Be cautious with Telefonica. Don't use agencies to find accommodation. Shop for food in markets

It is far outside the city. Live in town. Meet as many locals as you can and persevere in making friends.
