Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Other sources of funding:
Family
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
I found that I was a lot richer in Spain than at home! Things were about a third cheaper there and I ate the same amount of food so I spent less. The nightlife was fantastic so I was going out a lot more than at home, and I felt the urge to see different parts of Spain so also spent more on travel. The telephone was cheaper but I made less calls than at home.
Travel, Nightlife: was more expensive than at home.
Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home.
Food, Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Same as you would at home, try to have a budget. Use the bus to the airport instead of taxis, use the metro instead of taxis; buy a 10 trip metro ticket instead of 10 singles. Take taxis with friends - good anyway for safety.

Personal comments:
If you come to Bilbao, come at the beginning of September and look for your own place... The agency that Deusto offers you is ok, but it´s very easy to find something on your own.. For example through this website...

Open a Spanish bank account and transfer money this way. It is much cheaper and easier than withdrawing money from cash machines all the time.

Had to buy blankets, because there were any. A good saving tip may be to share an apartment with more people: lots of common devices will cost much less.
