HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because living with other (in my case: Spanish) students is the best way to learn the spoken language and culture of that country, to get into the University-scene, to get to know the best places to go and see, etc.
Personal comments:
The Universidad de Navarra has a from students-for students policy, so students of the University who need a new roommate will sign up at the housing facility and students who are looking for a room are able to have access to a list with all available studentflats. There is also a possibility to live on campus in a dormitory, but since UNAV is a religious institution that highly values the rules that correspond to it, you might feel like you are living in a convent. STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Weekend here in Pamplona starts on Thursday. The best places to go out are 'La Trave' and 'Plaza del Castillo' which are basically a street of different bars. Two discotheques I know are: Marengo and Reveren2. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
First thing I can say is that it is going to be rough and tough the first weeks. You are going to miss home, friends and family; understanding people will be hard at times, making yourself understandable will probably be even harder. But now worries, as soon as you get a grip on the new language, when you have gotten to know new people and you are used to your knew environment you won't feel like going back home. It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
Food, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was the same price as at home. Travel, Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Check out if you can obtain some kind of a scholarship, grant or other kind of funding. Get a job at least one year ahead and start saving, this way you'll be able to experience your stay abroad in a more relaxed way having some extra cash at hand. OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I knew more about the city itself. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It is a high-quality University; the best University in Europe even, I believe. If you choose your courses the right way you will be able to gain quite some knowledge, though in my opinion it is more theoretical than I am used to. For me, projects are the best way to get the hang of things, but here at UNAV more time is spent on theoretical classes. FINAL COMMENTS
First of all make sure you got your documents in order: Passport, visa, ID, insurance, etc (make sure you have copies of them in a save place, just in case). Next thing to do is check if you will be able to have access to your bankaccount from ATM's here in Spain (is no problem at all for EU bankaccounts). Take time to prepare things at home, do not start at the last minute; at least one year ahead of planning! Make sure you have a list with important numbers: whom to contact in case anything happens to you, your Insurance, Home University, Doctor back home, Family & Friends, etc. Make sure you have a backup of this list, in case you loose it! Lastly, try to find out as much information as possible on the Spanish culture, language (summer language course available at UNAV), etc. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
