I wish I had known...
There are so man little things of daily life that can be so time consumeing when having to find out on your own. The list would be too long, but with a little help from students who have been there before ... everything is manageable

Don't take the woman who is in charge of the exchange program too serious, because she does that perfectly on her own;-) There is lots to experience and to expend the mind. But takes a lot of research and self-motivation

Well, where shall I start? Monday is movie-night in the big shopping centers, but there is also a small cinema at M:Saldanha that has special shows. Flyers can be found in UNI. Tue/WED/THU is Lady's night.T:Queens(E15/18) with male strip at 2:30am, but real bad service at Lady's bar/men pay 3000ESC incl. drinkvalue; W:"Gringo's" (E15/18)stylish biker-bar, 80's music, great service at Lady's bar especially when tipping 500ESC at arrival/men 2000ESC incl. drinkvalue; PLATEAU (E15 or walking distance from Cais do Sodrè) great 80's music, like all night clubs won't start before 2am / men 2000ESC drinkvalue T: INDOCHINA if you didn't get enough the night before in PLATAEU, KAPITAL only if the guy in the door likes you. wouldn't pay more than 3000ESC, too expensive, but interesting to watch all the wanna-be's F: LUX best club in town, great music, fantastic interior, strange, good mix of people, open till 8am, 2000ESC to get in the door So many places, so many different styles ...AND THIS WAS JUST THE NIGHT LIFE!!! can you imagine how much there is to do during day time??? just contact me for more info

Quote of my main professor after I just arrived in the country and just started my language course: " You don't speak my language ...you don't understand my culture! You don't understand my culture ... you can not do architecture in my country!" I guess that explains it all. I didn't expect my naitive language, but the international language of design ... ENGLISH? I just started to learn the local language, shall I know all the termenology straight away? On top of that did my uni not arrange a course. We found out about it by accident ... it happened at another uni. But just a few days before the lady in charge told us there wouldn't be one. So we missed the first 3 lessons.
