Università degli Studi di Padova
University of Padova, Via Riviera Tito Livio 6, 35122 Padova, Italy, Padua
Description:
The Università degli Studi di Padova is the second oldest University in Italy and its traditional name is "il Bo", i.e. "the Ox". Our relationships with other academic Institutions and Research Centres the whole world over, from America to China and Australia, are extremely active through exchange of professors, information and publications. The University is in a phase of expansion and is looking at smaller towns nearby as sites for future initiatives (development of a polycentric University). Many of the students come daily to Padova from neighbouring villages and towns.

The Erasmus society in Padova was excellent at organizing events, meetings, discounts at bars and clubs, and were very friendly. Places I enjoyed included: 1) Banale - night club, and Banale Estivo, the summer version which is held outside of the city in the open air during the warm months of the summer. There is a free bus from the city centre. 2) The Fish Market - a smaller night club were there was excellent live jazz once a week. 3) Bourbon Street - another night club which some regarded as slightly dodgy but could still be good. 4) There's a cafe in Pizza dei Signori which does excellent hot chocolate. 5) The ice cream place in Pizza Garibaldi. 6) Theme bars such as the Highlander, The Indiana Jones bar and the australian bar. Well, I wouldn't miss Alexander's Bar, they make the best hot chcolate and have a very cool ambiance. There are a few dance clubs to check out, like Banale or Bourbon Street. Almost at every corner there are cafes and bars you can go to and hang out and most places close late at night. You do know where to go though because nightlife in Padova is not evident but it can be a lot of fun. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

There are very few nightclubs in Padova and the ones there are are not particularly good, however on the erasmus nights were always good, banale and Fishmarket namely. All the cafes and restaurants around the arts buildings were studenty and cheap. Best pizza in town: at medina. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The best pizzeria was La Medina near the duomo. Best place to casually meet up with friends and acquaintances was the piazza where Spritz was and also during the summer there was always Prato della Valle! Night spots - Fishmarket nightclub had the best Erasmus nights and there was a great Spanish night every Thursday in Tutor Club. The best way to make the most of the Erasmus experience in Padova is to join the ESN the Erasmus Student Network - they organise Erasmus theme nights every week, trips to Firenze, Napoli, Roma, Assisi. They also organise welcome and farewell parties and plenty in between! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

There was a nightclub called "Banale" which was really lively and I loved the "Centri Sociali" which were like cultural community centres for like-minded young people. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Night life is less lively than my home town (Porto). The most fun was meeting other Erasmus at their apartments or in town. Not many good clubs or bars though. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The events organized by the Erasmus-organisation are fine things to do and to meet other people. Best Pizzeria: Pizzeria Savonarola (Via Savonarola) Nice and cheap cinema: Excelsior (near mensa San Francesco/ via s. Margherita) Meeting point every night: Piazza delle Erbe - "Lo Spritz" (Thursday: Life-Music) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
