To students taking courses I would remind that how we learn and how we are accustomed to being taught- it's ALL CULTURAL! So if you are having trouble learning or you feel as if the Italian professor that is teaching you is teaching you badly, remember that that is most likely the reason. Inform him/her so he/she can make adaptions to help you better learn.

Stranieri is a great school, but some of there computer programs and labs are a bit archaic and not always available to students. There is no syllabus "programma" for the courses, so for those who like to gauge the material that they will be covering in the course, you can't.

Conversation courses are extremely lacking, which is why its important to either live with an Italian, or put up an ad offering to practice english in exchange for Italian lessons.

Where courses are concerned, don't be afraid to challenge yourself. If your classes are easy, don't require much studying or effort then move up a level- you will get more out of the experience and learn the language more quickly.

I was pleased with the academic life- my program was language and culture and their approach to teaching foreign language is fantastic- 20 hrs a week with 3 different types of classes: grammar, listening, conversational.

The quality of teachers is highly variable. In one period I had a dud but then got a brilliant teacher for the next 3 months. Change classes if not satisfied.
