Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
In the beginning I had some trouble communicating in the local language. Thanks to my roommates, who were for the most part Germans at the time, my German improved day to day. That is to say, my informal German. The institutional and academic languages are somewhat more complicated, but by and by that also became easier. Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
My overall experience was great. I learned so much and gained the confidence to approach any situation. I learned most from associating with friends and colleagues at the university. I passed the German DSH certification examination during my stay with an abover average result. Hannover is an ideal place to learn German because beautiful Hochdeutsch is spoken there.
