Academic
Course recommendations
There is better course availability in the fall (Wintersemester, starting in September/October), however there are always enough courses available to make it worthwhile. Due to the lack of available courses in the spring, I took a masters course.

No, it wasn't.

Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I went to Paderborn to work on my German. I took Language courses plus a masters course in English, so I enjoyed the language balance. I made a point of speaking German as much as possible, which is easy to do in Paderborn.

No surprises. Rewe (a grocery store) now accepts credit cards, so I'd probably need less cash next time I go to Germany.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It was great. This way I had German roommates (locals) which allowed me to get a greater appreciation of the local culture and it was also the cheapest accommodations available.

Personal comments
From what I have seen, there wasn't any bad option for housing in Paderborn. I still preferred the accommodations in a shared apartment (WG) than in dorms because that way I had German roommates and it was more affordable.

Q'barna was the best bar in town (no cover, dance floor) but no bar/disco in Paderborn rivals bars found in bigger German cities. Still great fun for what it's worth.
