Social
KEY:
No problems.
I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German
How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
Most people in Germany speak English, so communiccating was not a factor. Since they knew I was American, they would automatically speak English to me and I would respond in German and then they would speak German.

FINAL COMMENTS

It helps to stay really organized and plan out your expenses well in advance. Give yourself a week or two after the program to travel around the country on your own.
