Personal comments:
Each Belgian region has its own house, where tey have parties, and they're much more fun than the city bars and cafés. It's hard to go out at night in Brussels if you ave no car - public transportation between Brussels and Louvain stops around 11 PM. Week-ends are terribly dull if you don't travel around the country (many beautiful cities to visit up north, in the Flemish area). All Belgians get back to their parents' on Friday afternoon. The local cinema has cheap sneak previews.

Personal comments:
Erasmus parties are the best way to know people. Also, in Louvain-la-Neuve the nightlife takes place in the "cercles", little bars of the different colleges. Due to it's location, Belgium is in a great spot to travel. I must go to Luxembourg, Germany, France and The Netherlands. Also, you must travel around Belgium. The have special student train pass, called "go pass" that makes a lot cheaper to travel.

Personal comments:
Every "cercles" (as they call them), the café "pyramide cactus" at week end (when all other student are back home). There are parties everywhere, every week evenings. I especially appreciate "les mercredi de la guitare" and "les mercredis de la jonglerie". Don't miss the "15 days of beer" (located in the mds this year): you can try 150 belgian beers at a good price!

The so called "cercles" are famous places to get drunk but in fact they are really "dirty". i.e. if you have the intention to visit them, please do not show up in fancy clothes, take old one's with you; be prepared for cups of bear that are thrown in the audience and to meet a punch of really drunk people;

The night life was so different to what I was used to. There's no much offer (pubs, bars...). Most of the nightlife was at "kots a projet" or "cercles". Sometimes we went to Brussels to do different things: more cultural activities, tourism and even nightlife.

Louvain la neuve is a big university campus, so every activities take place in this student town. The night spots are connected with the university and they called "cercle", which university have your own "cercle".

Best Bistro: La Galoute; Cheap & good restaurant: Le Piano; Best waffles: Waffle Factory; Best sandwiches: Stand near Train station; Best coffee: KafKaf

The restaurant Le Piano; La friterie (chip shop) de l'Hocaille; beer tasting under a bigtop tent; warm Liege-style waffles from a vendor in the covered shopping area

I THINK THE BEST CAFE IN LLN IS THE 1900 CAFE. AND YOU CAN NOT MISS THE EXPERIENCE OF A "CERCLE", THE "FETE DE LA MUSIQUE" AND THE LATINO'S PARTY ON FRIDAYS.

There is so much that happens in LLN, can't really chose something over the others. Almost a bit too much night life actually.

The best places to go out?? any of the so called "circles" but they have their own charm... And the best event "les 24 heures du vèlo" in october

The barbecues in summer in the lake and the parties in the differents "circles" corresponding to each faculties.

In Louvain-la-Neuve: The Irish Pub "Becketts" (a meeting point for all exchange students every Tuesday, great music for dancing)

All night places at LLN are like Petit Casa. Parties there is typical student fests. Beckets is a place for more common tastes.

Le Rabelais - each friday. The Circles are organized by the different faculties every weekday - sort of parties!

Very nice & cheap multiplex cinema, also plenty of places to go out for drinks and very good restaurants.
