HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Very close to University, to the Seine, to the Louvre ...
Personal comments:
The University Paris IV-Sorbonne doesn't help much with the accomodation but fortunately, I had help from the German Bureau for Academic Exchange DAAD who provided all necessary information. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
In 3rd year level, you don't have much choice but I strongly recommend to really do all the staff, if only to get to know the local students better.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Compared to University in Germany it was totally different and I learned a lot but it didn't count for my studies in Hamburg. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
Even though French is not quite easy, m skills really improved during the year in Paris. In the courses you don't get to speak a lot, but because of the pressure of exams and the outstanding social life possibilities, you can rather easily advance. EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
Government assistance Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
Accomodation in Paris is just expensive but to have this apartment in the centre paid off. Of course, Paris heavily depends on Tourism and is one of the most visited places on earth. Therefore, nightlife and generally going out is expensive. Travelling in France is somewhat cheaper, the railway is not as privatized as in Germany and the public transport system in Paris costs the same as in Hamburg for students but is far better! Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone: was the same price as at home. Travel: was less expensive than at home.
