HOUSING
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Student Residence
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? For the convenience factor, i.e. close to everything, spacious. for adequate toilet facilities
Personal comments:
Le Rabot was a class student residence that accomodated for 600 students which was good cos you met loadsa people easily enough, but was halfway up a mountain, but only 10/15 minutes walk to city centre. there was also a regular bus service to it. Toilets were a bit dodgy though. a hole in the ground to be precise.

Activities, Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
le couche tard was a good multi national spot. Try and go to at least 1 college organised party. They're meant to be a blast but i never made them.

Personal comments:
Never learnt ne thing in college there. The lectures when i went to them seemed to be good. but all i had to do was write 2 essays and send them on to my home university. Bit dissappointing having not to attend college cos we lost all motivation to do ne thing.

I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French
How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Basic phrases
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
i believed i had a slight bit of competence in speaking french but when i got to Grenoble i found that that was not the case. But after 3 months i could have an interesting conversation with any french person. Its a shame i only had 3 months there cos i only started getting confidence ion speaking the language in the last month. I wonder how my french would be after 6 months.

Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Other sources of funding:
Family
Personal savings
Government assistance
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
Student accomodation is dirt cheap but not luxurious. Drink in supermarkets is dirt cheap but in the pubs and niteclubs it is a rip off. Cook for yourself cos i never did at first until i realised it would be way cheaper to.
Nightlife: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Travel, Overall: was the same price as at home.
Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Thank god for technology. If i was low on cash, i just sent a text message to my parents mobile fone saying i needed money for books and they would put some in my account using 24 hour intermet and phone banking. Unfortunately that never happened alot though
