The German "trial and error" system for choosing courses is the best I've seen. It gives students tons of freedom to take any type of course, and alos to try new things just for fun. The Deutsch als Fremdsprache classes, aren't phonominal, but ok. If you can take courses in German, or even another language, do so, because you will meet more Germans that way.

The system is very different, so if you are from an english speaking country, learn how Germans write papers before you attempt to do so. The style is very different.

Go "shopping" for your favourite courses during the first weeks and make the choice later! The formal registration may be changed during the initial weeks...

I would have liked further interaction with the German students. I felt that the international students were kept apart from the real academic side of the university and seperated from the German students.

i found it perfectly functioning(it was a little bit stressing for the teachers that year, so far they said, because of academic changes)
