HOUSING

KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Best way of living in Valencia is sharing a flat with other students. Living in a residence is lonely. But I would give myself more time to find a decent flat.

Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish
How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
I spoke a lot of Spanish before, now I even speak more. Sometimes people speak "Valenciano" (variant of Catalan) but that's not a problem, everybody speaks Spanish and is willing to do so.

I wish I had known...
Everything was wonderful. Just take your time to find a nice flat with nice people. Plenty of flats in the city!! Don't start panicking if in 4 days you still don't have a flat. It's worth staying a few days more in the hostel. You'll save that money, for sure.
In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
Very nice looking university. Well-prepared to receive dozens of foreign students. Very cosy central square ("agora"), especially to drink something when the sun is shining (almost everyday thus).
