It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
Most food is cheaper when at the supermarket. Most restaurants are the same though. I had a mobile phone, and the rates were the same as a mobile calling card plan. My apartment was a lot cheaper than in the U.S. Most bars and disos were cheaper, although a few are more expensive. Travel was cheaper mainly just because public transportation was a lot cheaper. Telephone: was the same price as at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
If you are going to be using buses (main form of public transportaion), I highly suggest buying a "bonobus" ticket, which is 10 rides on any bus. It is half the price of paying the driver every time. Same goes for the local trains. If you have to take the train everyday, buy a monthly pass to save money. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I didn´t have a fixed telephone so I had to call from my mobile or from a public telephone. Generally the rents are cheaper in Spain. The nightlife is less expensive than in Germany, but I went out more than at home! Even after a few months you still feel like being on holiday! I traveled more than I do in Germany, because I had only a few months to get an impression of the country. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food: was the same price as at home. Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Bring your mobile and a buy a spanish SIM-Card. Most households don´t have a fixed telephone! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I spent less because of the good exchange rate of the pound against the peseta. I travelled around most of the country in the year and went out every weekend. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
If you have the opportunity to got to a foreign country, Spain in particular, then enjoy yourself as much as you can. It is much cheaper than the UK and it will be a shock when you get back to the UK and having to pay lots more for everything! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I assumed I would only be there in that moment once, so I did everything I wanted to do! I traveled all over the Iberian peninsula. I learned much of my spanish slang over beer in Pub Dover Arms in plaza xuquer. Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Traveler's cheques are always a safe bet. Follow the exchange rate before leaving and during stay. Not as applicable now with Euro, but it still fluctuates some. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
