I wish I had known...
That it would have been a fuller experience had I gone completely by myself. my boyfriend, who was not a student, came with me and at first it inhibited me from taking full advantage of all the benefits.

The international office have a "buddy" program where you are put into a group with a couple of local Irish students. As an erasmus student it is always hard to interact with locals so take advantage of this. Also there is a fantastic selection of clubs and societies. It's a great way to meet Irish people and learn a new skill at the same time. Many of them organise weekends away so you can have the chance to see the parts of Ireland that Irish people think are worth visiting.

The experience was totally worth it despite not being thrilled by my academical experience. I met so many other international students with a similar outlook on life. we had a lot of fun and it will let you discover a lot about yourself. Ryanair is great for cheap flights and you can go all over europe for a small amount, however, excess baggage is really expensive. Do not bring more things than you need, you will regret having to pay for it!

I wish I had known...
I feel that I knew a lot of things when I first got there...maybe too much. At first, I was so caught up with getting my accomadations/classes/directions right that I forgot to relax and take it all in. It ttok a couple of days, for me to ease in to the new surroundings, but after I did, I really began to have fun and meet lots of interesting people.

I had a great time at UCD, but I would say more of it had to do with its location in Dublin and all of the cultural and social activities that the city itself has to offer, rather than the school itself, although it was nice living amongst Irish college students.

If there's a place where you've always wanted to go, absolutely study abroad there. Don't waste the opportunity bvecuase you will problably never have another chance to go there for an extended amount of time without being held down by a job or family. Plus, you can do it cheaper now than you'll be able to later. Final Advice: Go, go as soon as you can.

the fact of changing constantly the people in the classroom, makes it difficult to get on well with people

I would rather have gone to a smaller place as Galway, Cork, etc Dublin is not the place to be a low-budget Erasmus student. after all, it was such a deep experience which has help me to open further doors in my life

I should have gotten off-campus accommodation (Apt. or Family) for money reasons, more cultural exposure, and less administrative hassle/exploitation.

Don't deal with on-campus accommodation in any way! It's a rip off.

I think that UCD should mingle international student housing with Irish student housing.
