I wish I had known...
That it would have been a fuller experience had I gone completely by myself. my boyfriend, who was not a student, came with me and at first it inhibited me from taking full advantage of all the benefits.

The international office have a "buddy" program where you are put into a group with a couple of local Irish students. As an erasmus student it is always hard to interact with locals so take advantage of this. Also there is a fantastic selection of clubs and societies. It's a great way to meet Irish people and learn a new skill at the same time. Many of them organise weekends away so you can have the chance to see the parts of Ireland that Irish people think are worth visiting.

The experience was totally worth it despite not being thrilled by my academical experience. I met so many other international students with a similar outlook on life. we had a lot of fun and it will let you discover a lot about yourself. Ryanair is great for cheap flights and you can go all over europe for a small amount, however, excess baggage is really expensive. Do not bring more things than you need, you will regret having to pay for it!

I wish I had known...
I feel that I knew a lot of things when I first got there...maybe too much. At first, I was so caught up with getting my accomadations/classes/directions right that I forgot to relax and take it all in. It ttok a couple of days, for me to ease in to the new surroundings, but after I did, I really began to have fun and meet lots of interesting people.

I had a great time at UCD, but I would say more of it had to do with its location in Dublin and all of the cultural and social activities that the city itself has to offer, rather than the school itself, although it was nice living amongst Irish college students.

If there's a place where you've always wanted to go, absolutely study abroad there. Don't waste the opportunity bvecuase you will problably never have another chance to go there for an extended amount of time without being held down by a job or family. Plus, you can do it cheaper now than you'll be able to later. Final Advice: Go, go as soon as you can.

If I could have anticipated how much money I would spend over my 8 months, I would have tried to save even more before going over.

UCD is excellent. It is a large, and has a multitude of foreign students as well as Irish. There are extensive subjects available to students, as well as more time to study before finals. I would advise students to live on UCD's main campus to feel more like a student in college rather than to just be a foreigner in a city.

Going abroad was the best decision I have ever made. If you would like to travel abroad while studying in Dublin, lookup flights from RyanAir. I found they were the cheapest for short flights around Europe.

I wish I was more informed about the programme of my studies and that I should have been more sure about what I want to do there.

The University is very nice, the atmosphere is very good and the lectures are interesting. There are lots of facilities on campus like huge sports center, pubs, library, book shops, restaurant. The student life is very lively and lots of interesting things are happening all the time.

It is the best to take a car there as I did because the petrol is the cheapest and a car give a possibility to visit all places to whcih the access is difficult. Irish people are very nice but the weather is depressing and tirying.

an advice: try to have an accomodation on campus, because a flat in the city center of Dublin is very expensive and very difficult to find!

We travelled a lot around, which you should also do, because you never get so much time in one country to get to know it. We mostly travelled by rented car, and even though it was left drivin we did not encountered any problems, and got very well along woth everything. Even if at the start everything might seem very unfamiliar and strange to you, just don't let yourself go, at the end you will get to know a lot of very nice people and you will love it!
